Where it is situated / geographic position:
It lies on the border between Lombardia and Trentino Alto Adige, surrounded by the Adamello - Presanella, Ortles Cevedale and Brenta mountains.
Passo del Tonale marks the frontier between Trentino and Lombardia, as well as dividing two imposing chains of mountains: the Adamello-Presannella mountains on the right of the Val di Sole and the Ortles-Cevedale mountains on its left.
How to get there by road:
By car:
Brennero motorway (A22) to Trento or preferably S. Michele all'Adige, then the SS 43 road via Mezzolombardo and Cles and subsequently the SS 42 road along the whole of the Val di Sole. Those coming from the north-west (Milan - Turin) can reach Passo del Tonale quickly by taking the A4 Milan-Venice motorway, exiting at Seriate and following signs for Passo Tonale.
By train:
To Trento or preferably Mezzocorona. From here take the Trento-Malè railway to Malè. A bus service from the station of Malè links all the towns along the valley.
